iPod My Photo
I was browsing around the web when i cam across a website called iPodMyPhoto.com. They were charging 20 bucks to transform a regular photo into an iPod silhouette type photo. I decided that it was a cool idea, but 20 Bucks?!?!? I sat down with Photoshop and a photo of myself and started transforming it. It took me about 15 minutes. Here’s what I did.
Here is what the original photo looked like.

1.Open the image in Photoshop. (I used Photoshop Elements 3.)
2. Go to Enhance > Adjust Color > Romove Color.
3. Go to Enhance > Adjust Lighting > Brighness/Contrast. Darken the image by dragging the brightness bar.
Note: Some bright sections, such as the white stripes on my jersey may still be too bright after darkening the image. To fix this, select a dark shade of gray as your background color. Then use the magic wand tool to select these bright areas. Then hit delete. This will replace these areas with the dark gray you selected.
4. Set your foreground and background colors to the color you want your background to be. For me, I chose bright green.
5. Removing the background:
a) use the selector tool (which looks like a dotted box) to remove large sections of the background. Select the section you want to remove, and then click delete. It should remove the selected part and replace it with your color (in my case, green).
b) use the magic wand tool to remove large sections of the same color. after selecting the section you wish to change, delete it.
c)use the paint brush to get rid of the small sections that aren’t just one color. zoom in on them, and then use the paintbrush to go over them.

My photo after completing these steps.
6. Your Photo should basically look like an iPod Silhouette by now. These are just some ways to finish it up. All of these “touches” will be in white, so select white for your foreground and background colors.
a) Highlights
Highlight some of the brighter sections of your silhouette. Use the magic wand tool to select a some bright sections. Then click delete. I did this to some sections of my helmet, my number and name, and stipes on my jersey.

With some highlights.

With full Highlights.
b) iPod
If you want you can add an iPod to your photo. Use selector tool to select a small, iPod sized rectangle, near your silhouette’s waist. Click Delete. It should turn white. Next use the painbrush to draw the earbuds. Make the lines really fine, and then make a tiny ball when it reaches the ear.

With a little iPod.
Hope you liked this tutorial. Leave a comment if you have any questions.
